Explore the Kariya Highway Oasis
The Most Popular Service Area in Aichi
The Kariya Highway Oasis is one of the service areas of the Isewangan Expressway.
It’s located in Kariya, a neighbor city of Nagoya or Toyota.
It has the largest number of visitors of the service areas in Japan, and what is surprising is that the number of its visitors come in third among all the amusement facilities in Japan! (The 1st is the Tokyo Disney Land, the 2nd is the USJ)
Fascinating the young and old, the facility is not just a place to stop by, but is an attractive destination.
If you get a chance to make a short visit, have fun exploring the bustling complex.
Stylish Food Courts, Shops and RestroomsThe chic and modern main building is nice to cool you off on a hot summer day. The site is always crowded, but there are plenty of tables for the customers. Several restaurants serve their original dishes like Japanese food, curry rice, chickens, Miso-katsu, Takoyaki, Ramen, pizza, spaghetti, donuts and sweets. The most popular one is the Ramen. The Ramen will be offered immediately after your order, so it’s nice for people who don’t have enough time.
Try tasting the Ebisen (shrimp-flavored chips) at the Ebisen-no-sato. Several flavored Ebisen samples are always available.
And, don’t miss to use the restroom next to the main building, too!
The site is very famous for this Deluxe Restroom, an elegant carpeted restroom with Japanese high-tech toilets. Japanese love clean toilets.
Full of Attractive Amusements! There are several amusements for families at affordable prices, and some playgrounds surrounded by fresh greenery.
The playgrounds are separated into several areas, so that the toddlers can play with their age group safely.
You can enjoy the hot spring, too! Experience various kinds of bathtubs and Korean-style Jimjilbang. (admission fee ¥820) For a short stay, you can just take the footbath in 100 yen. The market is also very popular. It sells fresh vegetables, fish and ingredients at a low price. In addition to the facilities I noted above, there are some other buildings with food courts and souvenir shops. The shops had some character goods of Studio Ghibli.
